Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 October 2026
In short
- PomodoroCloud is a free Pomodoro timer and needs no account.
- There is no backend or database behind the app. Your tasks, goals, history and settings are stored only in your own browser.
- Optional preferences (such as your design and timer font) are only remembered between visits if you choose "Accept All". You can change this at any time in Privacy settings.
- The app uses no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
- If you email us, your message is forwarded to our inbox so we can reply (see section 3).
- Like every website, it is delivered over the internet, so the hosting provider processes technical connection data (see below). All fonts and other resources are served from this website itself.
1. Controller and contact
The controller responsible for this website is:
Martin Buerbaumer
Donauturmstraße 7B/1
1210 Wien
Austria
Email: info@pomodorocloud.com
For any privacy question or request, please contact us at the email address above.
2. Hosting (Cloudflare)
This website is hosted and delivered using the infrastructure of Cloudflare, Inc. When you open the website, your browser connects to Cloudflare's servers. To deliver the pages and to keep the service secure and stable (for example, to detect and block attacks or abuse), technical connection data is processed, such as:
- your IP address
- request details (requested page or file, date and time, referring page)
- technical information about your browser and device (for example the user agent)
- security and log information
This is necessary to provide the website. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure and reliable website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We do not use this data to identify you or to build profiles.
Cloudflare is a US company, so data may be processed outside the EU/EEA. Such transfers rely on the safeguards Cloudflare provides for international transfers. How long technical data is kept is determined by Cloudflare. Details are available in Cloudflare's privacy policy at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
3. Contacting us by email
If you write to info@pomodorocloud.com, we process the information needed to read and answer your message:
- your email address and, if included, your name
- the subject and content of your message, and any attachments
- technical email data such as the date and time of sending, and the routing information contained in the email headers
- any further information you choose to give us in the conversation
We use this data only to handle your inquiry and to communicate with you about it. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering inquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); where your inquiry concerns entering into or performing a contract, it is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
Emails to this address are received by Cloudflare Email Routing (Cloudflare, Inc.) and forwarded to our inbox at Gmail, an email service of Google. For this purpose, your message is processed by Cloudflare while it is forwarded, and stored by Google as part of our email account. Both companies may process data outside the EU/EEA, in particular in the United States; such transfers rely on the safeguards these providers offer for international transfers. More information is available in Cloudflare's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy.
We keep your messages for as long as is needed to handle your inquiry, and delete them afterwards, unless statutory retention obligations require us to keep them longer or they are needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
4. Data stored in your browser (localStorage)
The app stores data in your browser's local storage on your device. This data is not sent to us. It is not synchronized with any account or server, because the app currently has no accounts and no cloud storage. It is divided into essential storage and optional preferences.
Essential storage
This keeps what you explicitly use the app to keep:
- Timer settings: focus, short break and long break durations you saved, and your position in the four-session Pomodoro cycle
- Focus session history: start and end time, planned and actual duration and overtime of each completed focus session, plus the task name and color and the cycle position at that time
- Tasks: task names, colors, archived status, and creation, change and last-used times
- Goals: your goal settings and when each goal was last reached
- Your privacy choice: whether you chose "Accept All" or "Essential Only", and when
If saved tasks or history ever cannot be read, the app keeps a copy of that data in local storage so it is not lost.
We consider this storage strictly necessary to provide the functions you explicitly use (§ 165(3) TKG 2021), so it is used without asking for consent.
Optional preferences
These only make the app more convenient. They are stored on your device only if you choose "Accept All", based on your consent (§ 165(3) TKG 2021):
- Appearance: selected design (palette or theme) and timer font
- Break game: whether it is enabled, and your best score
- Notifications: whether you turned on session-end notifications
- Selected task: the task last chosen for the next focus session
If you choose "Essential Only", or have not decided yet, you can still use all of these features, but they are kept only in the open page and reset to their defaults when you reload or reopen the website. Preferences saved earlier on this device are then neither read nor changed. In Privacy settings you can remove them yourself.
Session-end notifications are shown by your browser on your device, only after you turn them on and grant permission. Your browser remembers that permission itself.
5. Your choice, cookies and tracking
On your first visit, the app asks whether to allow optional preferences: "Accept All" or "Essential Only". Both choices are equally available; nothing is preselected. Your choice is remembered on your device, so you are not asked on every visit. It applies only to the optional preferences described above. It is not consent to analytics, advertising or any other processing, because none takes place.
You can view and change your choice, or withdraw your consent, at any time via Privacy settings at the bottom of the timer page. After a withdrawal, optional preferences are no longer read or saved from that moment on. Your tasks, goals and history are not affected.
You can also delete all stored data at any time by clearing this website's data in your browser settings. Please note that this permanently deletes your tasks, goals and history, as there is no copy anywhere else.
The app itself does not set cookies. It does not use analytics tools, advertising, tracking pixels, social media plugins or any other tracking.
Separately from the app, Cloudflare may in certain cases use technically necessary cookies or similar mechanisms for security purposes, for example to tell legitimate visitors apart from automated attacks. These are not used for tracking or advertising.
6. External resources
The app's code, styles, illustrations and fonts (including all timer fonts) are served from this website itself. Using the app does not load anything from third-party services such as font providers or content delivery networks.
This page links to external websites, for example the privacy policies mentioned here. Those websites are only contacted if you follow such a link.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we process about you (Art. 15)
- have inaccurate data corrected (Art. 16)
- have your data erased (Art. 17)
- restrict processing (Art. 18)
- data portability, where applicable (Art. 20)
- object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21)
To exercise these rights, contact us at the email address above. The data in your browser's local storage is on your device only, so we cannot see, export or delete it; you can do that yourself in your browser settings at any time.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. In Austria, this is the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, dsb.gv.at). You can also contact the authority in your own EU country.
8. Changes to this policy
This policy describes the current version of the app. If new features change how data is handled, this policy will be updated before those features go live.
